Re: Solar Dashboard Project
As I understand it (take that as worth exactly what you paid for it...) the issue is that the ESP running the device doesn't have the juice to power the dashboard consistently with a direct (local network) connection. I'm not 100% sure that is a viable reason as I run dashboards on other ESP devices...

Re: Solar Dashboard Project
Only if you need MQTT for other purposes too. At the end of the day, the data is the data. For me, firing up a new jail in Truenas is quick and easy but if you need to buy an extra RPi or equipment then REST would have the edge.

Re: Solar Dashboard Project
Graham @xion2000 You don't. This was my issue a little earlier in the thread. I ended up having to set up a standalone MQTT server in a jail on my Truenas box that receives the MQTT data and then HA polls the MQTT feed from there. I battled with it for ages in HA but the end result is that HA *requi...

Re: Solar Dashboard Project
Happy to hear that you are just busy due to growing business! All good here, spring is coming in fast which brings a ton of work so I appreciate your situation; there is never enough time to get everything done. It's a funny old world, if I went missing my buddies may not notice for a month but my s...

Re: Solar Dashboard Project
Is there ANY way that something in the SolarDashboard electronics can screw up the com port on the charge controller as this is what appears to have happened. That is a great question. One would imagine (and I took for granted) that whenever one piece of electrical equipment (such as the SnekTek) i...

Re: Solar Dashboard Project
Sure! Many solar users have remote installs, some are at the cottage or cabin, others like myself just have a farm building that is too far away from mains electricity to make it viable to run the service so we use solar instead. Your online dashboard covers viewing of this data but doesn't allow fo...

Re: Solar Dashboard Project
Also I'm interested in your use of homeassistant, I think other users were asking about how to integrate it. I can also help with this as I got mine up and running eventually. At present, the only way that I believe HA can make use of this data is via an external (to HA) MQTT server that can be set...

Bug Report: MQTT / RESTAPI
Please delete. The perceived bug was introduced during a copy/paste of the code. I have now confirmed that the formatting in mqtt is compatible with json.
