Well we have managed to generate PDM stream that the mini recognizes, and played some pre-recorded commands into the home mini. Next step is to get the ADC working on the microcontroller and prototype a signal conditioning circuit. This way we can interface a 3.5mm audio jack as a mic input.

Hi, I plan on using just a regular 3.5mm jack microphone. Similar to the jack you added to the google home mini in your video. I will use speaker output from like a computer or ipod, and pipe it directly into the home mini. thats pretty it. I also have a 3.5mm cable that allows me to directly plus speaker output into microphone input. The application isn't anything fancy. I just like having control on how much the home and echo hears. With their mics, they are always on, with my own mic, i control when and when they aren't listening, and the source that it comes from.

We've been working on increasing voice recognition accuracy and consistency. There was some interference and noise in the audio, partly caused by imperfections in the software, partly caused by audio front-end. Now it seems to be 95% as good as the original voice recognition. We are working on the circuit board which is the brains of the kit, it's basically done. Here is a render:

The board will come assembled and all you need to do is wire it into your home / home mini.

In this state, the software is good enough to ship. Last step is to get the circuit board made and send it to all people that pre-ordered.

Thanks for your support. Especially Curt Dissel.

Hey curt,

How many mod kits do you want. Also, what do you want us to do with the homepod.

I'd like to do something similar with an Echo Dot.

I know that the Echo mic has an analog output. I want to use an old fashioned Stromberg Carlson phone handset, circa 1946.

What, if any, circuitry would be needed for the Echo's ADC to 'hear' the handset mic at an appropriate level?

I like the 3.5mm jack, too.

My guess is that the board was damaged with all the heat applied by the soldering iron? I've ordered a new google home, so will do a fresh install when the new board arrives!
