I've just had a thought (Yes it did hurt!) I've inserted a memory card into my SnekTek box when I was originally setting it up but I have no idea if its storing data on it, is the cur_data basically trying to access the memory card

I've pulled my sd card and as I suspected no data had been written at all, not even a folder created.
Its was a 2GB card so I've formatted (to fat 32) my next smallest card I have available which is a 32GB, inserted that and reconnected the box.
Still no joy!?
Any suggestions
It would appear that this is my main problem

Hi Xion2000.

ALL ORDERS AFTER FEB 19, 2020 come with the upgrade pre-installed. No need for any of the below!

We are releasing V3.1 today. It fixes a bug that can cause the SD card to lock up and require manual reset. Unfortunately it requires a hardware update as well as the V3.1 software. You can use the V3.1 software without the hardware update but you won't get the benefit of the SD card auto reset.

See shop item:
https://www.snektek.com/shop/index.php? ... uct_id=127

Instructions:
1. Cut the SD card power supply trace with utility or exacto knife as shown in picture
2. Solder connections like in the picture

DEPRECATED: Please see this other thread for more up to date information: https://www.snektek.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=59

Instructions to upload V3.1 Firmware (Updated on July 11, 2020)

After this firmware is installed, new firmware is available by over-the-air update in the settings page

Requirements:

1. USB micro connector cable
2. Download NodeMCU PyFlasher from here: https://github.com/marcelstoer/nodemcu- ... .0-x86.exe

Instructions:

Step 1. Download and extract the zip archive:
Step 2. Open the case from the unit and attach a USB micro connector to the computer. Remove progjump1 and progjump2 jumpers.

Step 3. Open NodeMCU PyFlasher

Step 4. Select "Serial port" and click "Browse" to select the file: epever-rs485-full-master-3.1-403949-2020-07-10-07-32.bin, extracted from Step 1.

Step 5. Click on "Flash NodeMCU", and see the following output when successfully completed:

Step 6. Unplug the unit from the computer and place back inside the case. Replace progjump1 and progjump2 jumpers or there will be no communication with the solar controller.

Step 7. Navigate to the solar dashboard page and click the settings tab. Go the the firmware section and update the firmware to the latest. If no firmware update is available, click reboot to check again.

On my unmodified v3 hardware, I had to remove the PROGJUMP1 and PROGJUMP2 jumpers in order to flash the 3.1 code...otherwise I could not connect to the device.

Also, FWIW, the power consumption I measure for the v3 hardware for both the 3.0 and 3.1 code is ~32 ma @ a reported 12.8v.

Initial reboot count looks a little suspicious: Reboot Count: 117638402
Reset count seems to fix it o.k.

Thanks for the feedback. Instructions are updated. The jumpers should be removed for programming and replaced after.

Reboot count being a new feature will need to be reset initially. It is normal to see a few reboots when accessing the dashboard, sometimes the connection limit is exceeded and the dashboard crashes. It recovers in just a second or so.

Another project update: We are adding ability to run the webserver on a different port, this will facilitate port forwarding to access the dashboard remotely. We already have the ability to set a static up using a config file on the sdcard

Try http://107.159.6.184:8080/ (work in progress)

Updated my firmware last night and all went well
Setup my home assistant data extraction (as per amente's suggestion) from the Solar Dashboard and that too now went well
Went to bed!
Got up (always a bonus once you've turned 50!)
All still working well
Then got this
"Historical data charts are not available SD card is not initialized"
I'm presuming that this is the "BUG" that was mentioned
I have not yet done the hardware upgrade as I do not believe it is within my capability (my soldering skills stop at 15mm copper pipe / plumbing), I have a friend who I know it is, but unfortunately for me he is currently on holiday in Vietnam so I will just have to live with this issue for a few weeks.
I've tried a "Reboot" via the dashboard screen but that did not reset it so I'm assuming I'll need to press the little reset button on the circuit board?

Anyway, thanks very much to Jon & everyone else involved in this project for the update, even with the card issue its still a giant leap forward for me
